spent some time reading under the sun at the industrial-like park facing the east river between north 8th and north 9th. it's an expansive lot with nice grassy areas that reminds me of ancient ruins. it also kind of feels like an urban beach--you can sit on logs right off the water and watch old men fishing (or just one old weird, at least.) apparently, it's also the new site for the former mccarren pool outdoor concert series.
anyone want to picnic?
